8th May:
With the 2007-8 finally
at an end, the Rocks can certainly view this season as one of
two halves. St. Peter's first XV have ended the season 'on par'.
Eleven wins and eleven defeats has provided St.Peter's with a
very respectable 6th place in Division 3 South East. Click

Abergavenny
Tournament: Sat 3rd May, <<Report>>
1st May:
23 points from the boot of Fred Wilson, supported
by 4 excellent tries (Viv Rees (2), Mike Butler and Nick Murphy)
last night saw St. Peter's retain the Ninian Stuart Cup. Paul
Macca McCarthy led the rocks thirds out on to the Arms Park
ground as holders of the cup from last year. Memories of the
famous 14-16 victory over Cardiff came flooding back, but
matters at hand were clearly more important for the 2008 thirds.
Good opening cup nerve tussles started the game, but were soon
put to rest as Viv Rees rounded on the far side of the pitch
from the numerous rocks supporters to make an easy conversion
for man of the match Fred Wilson. Super all round handling and
dominant forward play soon swept aside Llandaff North, who,
thanks to the defence of St. Peter's were unable to put a point
on the board. St Peters 43-Llandaff North 0. <<Photos>>JUNIOR NEWS

Under 12 report from Worthing:
St.Peter's U-12's made the long trip to Worthing on Sunday in an
attempt to defend the trophy that they won last year. They drew
the first game against Lewes 0 - 0 and then proceeded to win
their next three games 25 - 0, 30 - 0 and 20 - 0 to progress to
the final ahead of Lewes on try count. In the final they came
across a very determined and agressive Tunbridge Wells team who
managed to win by a single try. During the tournament there were
some good performances from Ryan Hill, James Dunne, Daniel Jones
and Andre Fedeli. Try scorers were Callum Sheedy(7), Jack
Beere(3), Ryan Hill, James Dunne, Andre Fedeli, Jacob John and
Connor Meehan. Report by Matthew Sweeney.
27th April:
St.Peter's U-12's managed to beat
St.Albans by 14 - 7 in an excellent match at the Harlequins
ground on Friday. Try scorers for the rocks were Ryan Farah and
Joe Peckham with Calum Sheedy adding both conversions. In the
last few weeks St.Peter's have beaten Aberdare, Pontyclun and
now St.Albans to establish themselves as a real force to be
reckoned with at this age-level. Report by Matthew Sweeney.
27th April:
Back to winning ways!!! The first
team played host yesterday to visiting Brecon RFC. Scoring early
the rocks took a 7 point lead. This however was squandered
during the first half when the Rocks found themselves 7-17 down.
An excelent second half, with Ginger showing his skills, saw the
firsts gain a well needed 32-17 win. Just two games to go now
before the end of the season. Next game Tuesday evening at
Tonyrefail.
26th April:
Tonyrefail game rearranged. The away game
against Tonyrefail will now be on Tuesday evening; kick off
18.00
21st April:
Seconds and youth and U12/13 have a great
weekend.
UNDER 12/13: played host to Sils RFC from Solihull on Saturday,
coming out the victors 39-38 in a thrill filled spectacle on the
Harlequins. Paul Ring (coach) was pleased that the U12s mixed in
well with the 13s helping to score 4 tries in 10 mins before the
midlanders came back strong. With some superb tries from both
teams, a final great try from Solihull was not quite enough to
take the spoils. Well done Juniors.
YOUTH: Great news for the youth. The youth entertained Llantwit
Fardre winning 24-14. This however was just the win (4 tries to
2) the youth needed to maintain their place in the top flight of
Welsh Youth Rugby. Having earned their place in this league
after a number of years, Vince Nolan and Dazza's boys ably
assisted by Warren Mitchell have successfully stayed in this
league after the win on the weekend. Commiserations to Llantwit
Fardre who have now lost their place in this league. Good luck
to you all in retaining your place next year.
SECOND XV: <<Match
Report>> by Paul O'Brien
UNDER 13s:
beat Llanishen on Sunday 27-0.
Tries scored by Cobi Flowers(2),
Danny Wardle , Aaran Reid and Ryan Spriggs. Conversion by
Jack Hoskin. Great defence work by all team
members. From Stuart Baird
17th April:
Rocks roll into a second Ninian Stuart Cup final
in as many years. The Third XV ran in 4 tries to nil against
Caerau Ely at the Riverside Park, Rumney this evening. Mike
Thomas (manager) said that if it hadn't been for the wind - it
would have been a great deal more. Tries by S, Ellis, D. Sage
(2) and G. Bater with 8 points on the boot from Fred Wilson.<<Photos>>. The Ninian Stuart Cup Final is on 30th April against Llandaff North.
Venue to be announced.

17th April:
Change of plan. Seconds are now at home on
Saturday to Sully.
15th April:
On Friday the U-12's beat Pontyclun by 22 -10 at
the Harlequins in an excellent display of rugby, tries were
scored by Muntasser Al-Habsi, Joe Peckham, Jack Pattison and
Jack Beere with Callum Sheedy adding a conversion.
On Sunday they also won at Llanishen by 17 - 19, tries were
scored by Al-Habsi(2) and a fine solo effort by Andrew Corfield,
Sheedy and Corfield added a conversion each. (Report by Matthew
Sweeney)
14th April:
As the end of the season draws near, its time to
get to grips with all the postponed fixtures from the winter.
Take a look at the full fixtures
to see what is coming up. This week we have the Old Illts on
Wednesday evening at Rumney Rec, where we will be aiming to get
back on winning ways. The thirds have progressed to the Semi
final of the Ninian Stuart Cup (current holders). This year - as
last - we have Caerau Ely at Rumney RFC ground. Come on support
the thirds!!!
8th April:
More good news from the U12s. On Fri
the U-12's went up to Aberdare to play a side who had beaten
them on the first game of the season. This time they managed to
gain revenge with an excellent 0 - 17 win, tries were scored by
Callum Sheedy(2) and Muntasser Al-Habsi, with Sheedy adding the
conversion. Everyone was outstanding with the defence proving
decisive achieving yet another clean sheet.
On Sunday the U-12's welcomed a touring side from Effingham and
Leatherhead and fell behind in the opening minutes to a long
range try. However, as the game went on St.Peter's wore the
opposition down and ran out 34 - 5 winners. Tries were scored by
Andrew Corfield(2), Muntasser Al-Habsi, Conor Tonkin, Andre
Fedeli and Jordan Viggers, Corfield and Lee Ford added
conversions. Special mention must go to Owen Rosser who had a
brilliant game putting in some crunching tackles. (report by
Matthew Sweeney)
4th April:
St Peters comfortably put Llanishen out of the
cup last night with a 40-7 win at the Harlequins ground.
Llanishen looked like a well drilled outfit who could string a
number of well worked moves together, but after kick off it all
went a bit pear shaped for the travelling team. Hard running,
swift hands and a determination to keep the ball alive saw the
holders of the Ninian Stuart Cup score regularly in the first
half. A solid performance all round. <<photos>>

31st March:
St.Peter's U-12's took part in an excellent 12
-12 draw at St.Albans. Scorers for the rocks were Muntasser Al-Habsi
and Andre Fedeli, Callum Sheedy added the conversion. In the
development game Al-Habsi scored again with Jack Beere
converting but St.Albans ran out 12 - 7 winners.
30th March: Good wins for
the seconds and youth on Saturday. The seconds ran riot at Old
Penarthians winning 7-66 (47 point sup at half time). Scoring 10
tries any day is good going, but in the howling Penarth wind
this was a cracking performance enhanced by some great passing
and running rugby<<report>>. The youth also had an excellent win away at Llantwit Major 8-35. The youth are certainly a team worth
watching at the present time.
St Peters Junior Section would like to thank Neil Parker and his company
SURFSCAN LTD
for sponsoring the shirts for the Under
13s for the next year.
26th March:
Rocks lie in fourth place in Div 3 SE as we

23rd March:
St.Peter's U-12's continued their excellent
season by qualifying for an end of season finale at Twickenham

Gullivers Travels. In the pool stages they beat Ealing 5 - 0,
Ilkeston 15 - 0 and Dursley 30 - 0 before losing 5 - 0 against
Brighton. This meant they came second in their pool and would
have to face unbeaten Roslyn Park for a place at HQ. In a close
fought affair St.Peter's emerged victorious by 5 - 0. Over the
two day Festival tries were scored by Callum Sheedy(5),
Muntasser Al-Habsi(4), Conor Meehan and Owen Davies and all the
players should feel proud of the their performances.

St.Peter's seconds blew away Sully yesterday. The
wind and general weather conditions was the biggest enemy for
both teams at the Harlequins but the seconds played the handling
game well and 'rocked' Sully by 38-7. Tries to Danny
Murphy, Nicky Murphy, Nicky Kelly, James Mullane and a brace for
Owen Evans. The two Nicks converted their own tries. Information
